Director of the Český Krumlov Institute of Economics on the theoretical and practical education of officials for the Schwarzenberg estate, author of the first agricultural textbook in Bohemia from 1806. It shows how efficient progressive agriculture was taught in Krumlov, including care for improving villages and the surrounding landscape. He is also the author of invaluable material for the history of Šumava about the Schwarzenberg canal, the construction of which he also initiated. Two villages were named after Ernest Mayer; the village of Mayerbach (Dolní Borková in Czech), flooded today by the waters of Lake Lipno, and also Arnoštov (Ernstbrunn) located near the Knížecí Stolec mountain. He was married three times: to Karolina, the daughter of a Krumlov forester, to Franziska, the daughter of the chief guard from Rožmitál in Šumava (Rosenthal) and to Josefina, the sister of an imperial officer and author of military writings G. Uhlig von Uhlenau.
