The last and 16th Duke of Krumlov, Heinrich was arrested during WWII by the Gestapo and imprisoned in the Buchenwald concentration camp. After adoption of the anti-constitutional Lex Schwarzenberg law in 1947, under which the property of the Schwarzenbergs in Bohemia was confiscated by the state, he took refuge in Austria and began to restore the fortunes of the family enterprises and palaces in Vienna.
