Paul Paleczek
* 1781 in Radostice near Kamenný Újezd, +1859 in Stožec
The founder of the Paleczek family, whose 22 direct descendants served for four generations mostly in the role of gamekeeper in the princely Schwarzenberg service. Paul was a simple lumberjack when he was young. However, near the Krumlov chateau, during a summer storm, he saved the drowning prince Josef in the flooded Polečnice stream from a carriage with frightened horses. As a reward, in 1814, he entered the Schwarzenberg service as a princely gamekeeper in the Nové Údolí (Neuthal) district. A year later, he built a house in Černý Kříž, in which Paul's grandson Franz (1875-1926) established an inn during the construction of the Šumava railway lines.
