Rosa Tahedlová
* 1917 in Dobrá na Šumavě, +2006 in Bavarian Cham
After childhood in Šumava and teacher training in Budějovice, she taught in various rural schools in the Prachatice region. After the war, she lived in her native village of Dobrá na Šumavě and witnessed its disintegration. She could no longer pursue her profession and had to make a living as a lumberjack for 18 years before the communist authorities allowed her to move to Bavaria in 1964. There she could finally teach again and devote herself to literary work. In the book Testimony from the post-war Šumava, she depicted her life influenced by the political events of the time. Her work is an important source of knowledge for the current generation and a call for peaceful coexistence between Germans and Czechs.
