+1824 Zvonková
Glass master from Zvonková, founder of the glassworks in Josefův Důl. The first mention of a lumbering settlement on the slope of Smrčina dates back to 1720, which grew after the completion of the Schwarzenberg canal. In 1822, a stained glassworks was established here, named after the owner of the estate, Prince Josef Schwarzenberg. The glassworks used mainly waste wood, which was not suitable for navigation through the canal. The production of hollow, plate, crystal and especially pharmaceutical glass lasted until 1894. In 1863, the glassworks was sold to new owners (Karl Stölzle, Josef Palfinger), who modernized it and set up a gasoline-powered grinding mill. In 1922, the glassworks employed 180 employees and exported products worldwide, ceasing operations only in 1930 due to the economic crisis.
